O'Fallon Scooter Club - Here I come?

When I first brought my scooter home, and as I began to ride more, Tony mentioned, you know, we should start a scooter gang!  Though he quickly clarified that at our age, it cannot be a "gang" but more of a "club".  My mind started whirring, and I said OMG, we should start a Facebook page called O'Fallon, MO Scooter Club.  How fun would that be?  And so it is done!  More details to follow.

This evening, I headed out at around 7:30 for a friend's house, who lives in O'Fallon also.  She and her hubby wanted to check out my scooter.  She took it for a spin, and had a happy grin on her face as she passed her husband and I in the driveway.  Hopefully she will get one so she can join my gang...er...I mean my club :)

As I rode home, the night was truly beautiful.  Cool breeze, clear sky with each star shining ever so brightly.  The trees looked so beautiful in the moonlight.  Riding on the scooter brings a newfound appreciation for the outdoors.  You see things in such a different perspective.

One of the most interesting things I've noticed is that while riding on the scooter, I can feel sudden changes in the temperature, and it lasts only a second.  It's as if I travel thru a pocket of warm air, quickly followed by a long pocket of cooler air.  Feeling this change in temperature on your skin, it's difficult to describe.  It's somewhat invigorating, I believe.

I just *love* my scooter.  Can't wait for this weekend's adventures!  I'm going to try and take more pics so I can share them with you.

Welcome.

Tonight is the night for creating blogs.

I recently bought a scooter along with my boyfriend.  The fact is, I have ALWAYS wanted a scooter to ride around from.  The fascination began when I would visit family in India.  My mother's youngest brother always rode around on a scooter.  I would try to finagle a ride on the scooter in every opportunity imaginable.

Finally, as an adult, I have a scooter of my own.  That is thanks to my boyfriend, Tony.  He and I went to a Harley store a few weeks ago.  I told Tony straight out, you will not ever see me on the back of a motorcyle.  In the store sat a Vespa.  I proceeded to tell Tony about how I have always wanted a scooter.  He asked me whether I was serious.  I said, yes I am serious, but I have never pursued it because a) I know nothing about scooters, b) I have no notion about how to buy one, c) They are too expensive, d) I don't know anyone to ask for help or advice.

He proceeded to tell me about how he was sure we could find scooters on Craigslist at an inexpensive cost.  And so our obsession with trolling Craigslist began.  First he found his scooter, a 150cc.  I, being the cautious person that I am, bought a 49cc a couple of weeks later.

I swore to Tony, don't get your hopes up, it's going to be weeks before I am prepared to ride on the highway.

Yeah right.

Within two days of purchasing the scooter, I was out on the main road.  I went and got myself a manicure within 24 hours using my scooter.

Oh how I love my scooter.  The purpose of this blog will be to share my scooter adventures :)
